Mothers’ Milk Drive

The AAP Section on Breastfeeding has partnered with the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida to organize a milk drive at the 2018 National Conference and will provide breastfeeding attendees with an opportunity to donate excess milk to Mothers’ Milk Bank of Florida, Inc (MMBFL).

The event aims to raise awareness about the need for human milk donations and the importance of human milk banks for sick or premature infants.

If you will be joining us in Orlando but will not have your child with you or have extra milk and are interested in milk donation we invite you to participate in the milk drive! Visit MilkBankofFlorida.Org for milk drive requirements.

All potential donors are required to complete screening steps.

Becoming a milk donor starts with a real-time interview – either face-to-face, telephone, or VoIP service via internet (e.g. skype) in compliance with guidelines issued by our accrediting agency, Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA).  If the candidate ‘passes’ the screening, the milk bank will send an email with an information packet and links to  questionnaire, consent, and medical releases. A lab requisition for free serological screening (similar to prenatal screening) and stickers printed with a Milk Donor ID number will be delivered via USPS.
