The 2023 Call for Session Proposals is now open. All submissions and requests must be submitted through the below portal by December 1, 2022. Full details and specific task requirements can all be found in the 2023 Session Proposal Portal.
The 2023 Call for Plenary Session Proposals will open in Spring 2023.
The 2022 National Conference & Exhibition will be hosted in Washington, D.C. from October 20-24, 2023. Additional details of the conference will be available at a later date.
2023 Submission/Request Timeline
- December 1, 2022: General session proposals & requests for section/council programs & courses due
- December 2022: Section/Council program & course request notifications
- February 2023: General session proposal notifications
- Spring 2023: Call for plenary session proposals open
Due Date: December 1, 2022
General sessions are targeted for general pediatricians or pediatric providers and cover any clinical or non-clinical pediatric content areas. The National Conference Planning Group is responsible for reviewing sessions and selecting, inviting, and confirming faculty.
Please note, invitations to faculty members should not be extended during the proposal process as this faculty will be selected and invited by the planning group. Session acceptance does not guarantee that proposed faculty will be invited.
Section/Council Programs & Courses
Due Date: December 1, 2022
Section/council programs are highly focused topics of interest to section or council members and/or general pediatric providers, which require and assume that the attendee has knowledge and interest in the content area. These programs are planned and implemented by section or council program chairs, in conjunction with the National Conference Planning Group and staff. These sessions are open to all registered National Conference attendees.
Courses are half or full-day specialty programming, which are planned and implemented by an AAP section or council. These specialty sessions offer hands-on education, deep-dive discussion, or are tailored to a specific audience. Courses may require a paid ticket to offset equipment or meal costs.
- Requests for section/council programs & courses must be completed via the Session Proposal Portal.
- Multi-day programs should submit one request per day.
- AAP Section & Councils should hold on inviting faculty or developing agendas until they receive an acceptance notification (anticipated date: January 2023).
Participation Request Due Date: December 1, 2022
Any programs wishing to participate in the 2023 National Conference Abstract Program must do so through the 2023 Session Proposal Portal by December 1, 2022. Please note: programs will NOT be provided the opportunity to opt into the abstract program at a later date. For multi-day programs, only one submission must include abstract program information.
The AAP National Conference & Exhibition accepts abstracts of advocacy projects, case reports, original research, program evaluations and quality improvement projects for presentation within various section and council programs. Section/council programs may choose to participate in the abstracts program and indicate their program specific preferences within the session proposal portal. These program specific preferences will be used to build the 2023 abstract submission site. See below for the 2023 guidelines.
