Be prepared to have incredible experiences at the American Academy of Pediatrics 2017 National Conference & Exhibition! The AAP promises a memorable experience in our host city Chicago filled with world-class education, incredible food, culture, and outstanding local entertainment.

Badge Barcode

Conference Registration

You should have received a registration email that contains an important barcode that will be used for printing your badges and tickets onsite. Make sure to print and bring that page with you or have the barcode ready on your mobile device. Conference registration is located in McCormick Place West, Central Concourse, and is open Friday, 6:30am – 7:00pm and Saturday – Tuesday, 6:30am – 6:00pm. Badges are required at all times!


NEW! 2017 AAP National Conference App

The 2017 AAP National Conference App is available to all conference attendees. Search for AAP National Conference in the App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android and then download the app to your device.

Once you have the app downloaded, you will be able to access program information, schedules, floor plans, an online exhibit guide, as well as daily news coverage, direct links to social networks, the AAP Conference Planner, and much more. The National Conference App is your best online resource while attending the National Conference.

Complimentary Wireless Internet

The AAP is providing complimentary wireless internet in all meeting spaces at McCormick Place West and Marriott Marquis. The AAP network name is “AAPexperience” and the password is “experience17.”

Conference Planner/Session Handouts

AAP Conference Planner

You are encouraged to access information about all conference sessions (including downloading handouts and adding sessions to your itinerary) and special events through the AAP Conference Planner prior to arriving in Chicago and while onsite. You can access the Conference Planner directly through the 2017 National Conference App and on the conference website. Download the 2017 AAP National Conference App in the App Store or Google Play.

Travel Information

Chicago is home to two international airports: O'Hare International and Midway International. O'Hare is located approximately 17 miles from downtown Chicago or a 35-minute drive. Midway is located approximately 10 miles from downtown Chicago or a 20-minute drive.

Taxis at Airport

Taxis depart from the designated taxi zones on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level of all terminals. The average fare from O'Hare International to McCormick Place is approximately $50-$65. The average fare from Midway International to McCormick Place is approximately $25-$35.


Public Transportation

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) serves both airports for easy and economical travel between downtown and Chicago neighborhoods using the 'L' train. The 24-hour CTA Blue Line connects directly to O'Hare, and the CTA Orange Line connects directly to Midway. View CTA Maps »

What to Pack and Wear

Attire is typically business casual for most meetings and casual for many special events. Temperatures vary inside McCormick Place West and meeting hotels, so dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes!


Temperatures in Chicago at this time of year range from 54 degrees to 76 degrees Fahrenheit.

Conference Shuttle Schedule

The AAP provides shuttle bus transportation from all official conference hotels that are not
considered walking distance to McCormick Place West. Shuttle service is also provided for the President’s Welcome Reception, Chicago Experience! at Navy Pier, and the Friends of Children Fund Fun 5K Run & Walk. Regular conference shuttles begin at 6:00am on Friday and continue through Tuesday. For detailed shuttle information, view shuttle schedule »
